The Role:
This role is responsible for leading the effective formulation and delivery of the organisation’s industrial relations strategy whilst also providing quality, commercial and contemporary advice on all matters relating to Industrial Relations. This role will be the subject matter expert, to provide advice and tactical strategies to address all industrial relations opportunities and issues. As part of a close-knit team who foster a team culture of collaboration and service excellence enabled by effective and efficient people processes and technology to drive performance against agreed performance indicators.

• Partner with the Senior Management team and Leaders within the organisational to manage all IR matters.
• Coach Leaders in the business to develop capability and understanding of risk mitigation for IR matters.
• Provide input into operational activities to ensure alignment with legislation requirements.
• Develop frameworks for policies and procedures relevant to performance management, disciplinary process and all other IR subjects.
• Conduct IR review meetings, audits and reporting of IR matters on the project.
• Provide expert IR advice to the Project and Construction Management teams.
• Participate in the selection of construction partners and monitor IR performance.
• Provide advice on day to day IR issues on the project including grievances and performance issues ensuring compliance with agreed policy and procedures.
• Contribute to the organisation’s ongoing strategic development in accordance with the Strategic Business Plan.
• Lead complex case management matters that include workplace investigations.
• Influence, coach and provide comprehensive advice to key stakeholders on all IR related matters.
• Support Leaders through the Fair Work Commission processes and/or other relevant jurisdictions.
• Provide Leaders with recommendations in relation to legislation, policies and procedures.
• Assisting in the delivery of training and education sessions to build leader capability in performance management and management of grievances.
• Liaise with relevant union representatives as required.
• Build capability within the HR team to handle transactional case management matters such as performance management, employee grievances and disputes.

Experience & Qualification:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar role.
• Significant experience in Industrial/Employment Relations Management.
• Demonstrated experience in complex case management and employment issues.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Experience in mining and resources industry.
• A thorough understanding and knowledge of the Fairwork Act, associated Legislations, Mining Award and NES.
• Demonstrated experience in managing unfair and unlawful dismissals.
• Identifying emerging issues on site and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Effective stakeholder engagement.
• Lead coaching and training for Leaders for effective people management.
• Demonstrated experience in negotiation of Enterprise Agreement and managing union bodies.
