Our client Lürssen is a family owned company with over 140 years of shipbuilding expertise, and a global leader in design and construction of ships for commercial and defence purposes. In May 2017, in pursuit of the SEA 1180 contract and regional export opportunities, Lürssen founded a subsidiary company, Lürssen Australia. The company will support Australia’s national sovereign shipbuilding strategy and is headquartered at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson, Western Australia

Lurssen Australia is the designer and prime contractor for the acquisition of Off-Shore Patrol Vessels (SEA1180) for the Australian Navy. There is now an opportunity for a Verification and Validation Engineer to join the team in Adelaide and use their problem solving and analytical skills in this important role. This role exists to support the development and delivery of the overall Verification and Validation (V&V) program for the design and construction of twelve Off-Shore Patrol Vessels. This role will carry out the required V&V support activities, maintain the V&V database, and make recommendations based on the V&V results within the SEA1180 program. This role will be required to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure the acceptance of the SEA1180 program.

Travel will be required between Adelaide and Perth to ensure V&V plans are adhered to, and suppliers for Factory Acceptance Tests, and material inspections.

Role Specific Accountabilities (not limited to):
• Develop V&V plans, and procedures
• Prepare and conduct Test Readiness Reviews
• Co-ordinate and conduct V&V activities
• Detect faults, raise problem reports and identify rectification strategies
• Liaise with product managers, and the system architects, in the resolution of problem reports
• Prepare post-test reports and analysis
• Develop monitoring requirements and preparing status reports
• Develop specification of software requirements for data management
• Provide guidance and mentoring support to other team members as required
• Promote a culture within the V&V, System Safety, and Quality Department that is receptive to change, responds to feedback and strives for excellence and continuous improvement

You will have:
• Demonstrated experience as an qualified engineer with a degree in either engineering or science
• Proven experience in platform acceptance
• The ability to adapt to changing task requirements and priorities
• Finely tuned technical problem solving abilities
• Experience and understanding of defence environment
• Experience in working large and complex programs
• Proven exceptional customer experience levels

Other Requirements:
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
