The Western Program Alliance (WPA) is currently delivering a program of major works on both the Aviation Road level crossing in Laverton and Ferguson Street crossing in Williamstown. They are soon to be commencing on the upcoming Cherry and Werribee Street crossings in Werribee.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Working for the main contractor, this role will act as the main interface managing between the Design team and Delivery teams. Key accountabilities will include;

• Implementing Design and Engineering Management Plan
• Managing the interferences of design with requirements of construction and Works Readiness
• Managing engineering option selection to deliver best-value outcomes
• Managing design change process
• Managing design review and approval processes involving parties external to the design team (for example construction team, external stakeholders & agencies)
• Develop overall time and cost targets for design
• Managing Temporary Works design

Required Competencies:
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Member of Institution of Engineers, Australia (MIEAust) preferred
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred
• Ideally a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry with significant exposure to design, costing, estimating and planning
• Demonstrated capability in development of innovative concepts for solutions to technical, complex issues
• Competent understanding of Australian and International codes and standards and risk and contingency assessment
• Self-sufficient, requiring minimal supervision with focus on pragmatic, technically sound, acceptable results
• Strong oral and written presentation ability linked with sound relationship and integrity record
• Competent in leading, organising and motivating others
• Competent in use of MS Office, SureTrak, AutoCad, Lotus Notes
• Working knowledge of engineering software e.g. Wallap, SpaceGass
